ANNA, Ill. -- Graveside service for Lester C. Strange will be held at 10 a.m. today at DeSoto Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Fager will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post.
Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
Strange, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at Union County Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1918, at Shirley, Mo., son of Richard and Carrie Richardson Strange. He and Dorothy Eillen Buckles were married Aug. 21, 1945, in Wilmington, Calif. She preceded him in death.
Strange was a machinist for Ovearnester Glass Co. He was a member of DeSoto Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disbled American Veterans.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Wentworth of Ava, Brenda Daughtery of Collinsville, Barbara Davis of Warrenton, Mo.; a son, Ronald Strange of Centralia; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
