Lester Simmerman

ANNA, Ill. -- A graveside funeral for Lester H. Simmerman, 84, of Anna, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Anna City Cemetery. The Rev. Verlee Eaker will officiate. Friends may call at the cemetery today after 1:15 p.m.

Simmerman died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1920, in Union County, the son of Ray and Flora Shephard Simmerman. He married Juanita Starrett on March 28, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was a member of Anna First Baptist Church and a retired custodian from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviviors include his wife, and two brothers, LaVerne Simmerman of Marion, Ill., and Robert Simmerman of Texas.

Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
