MARBLE HILL -- Lester D. Rea, 83, of Marble Hill died Monday, May 1, 2000, at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis.
He was born Jan. 28, 1917, at Zalma, son of William Jasper and Mattie Whittenberg Rea. He and Velda M. Sitze were married Aug. 14, 1940. She died July 26, 1999.
Rea was a farmer, and had owned and operated Castor River Park a number of years. He was a member of Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Dalton of St. Charles; a brother, Mendel Rea of the state of California; two sisters, Freda Gaines and Muriel Gillespie of Rosewood Heights, Ill.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
