SIKESTON, Mo. — Lester McDonald, 85, of Anna, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at City Care Center in Anna. He was formerly of the Sikeston and Benton, Mo., areas. He was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Double Springs, Ala., son of Francis Marion and Docia Olive Jackson McDonald. He and Blanche Alcorn were married July 8, 1944...

SIKESTON, Mo. — Lester McDonald, 85, of Anna, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at City Care Center in Anna. He was formerly of the Sikeston and Benton, Mo., areas.

He was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Double Springs, Ala., son of Francis Marion and Docia Olive Jackson McDonald. He and Blanche Alcorn were married July 8, 1944.

McDonald farmed most of his life. He served as mayor of Vanduser, Mo., in his younger years, and also operated a cafe there.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael McDonald of Anna; two daughters, Sheila Michael of Lake Park, Ga., Tammy Webb of Adell, Ga.; a sister, Olivia Engram of Vanduser; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale Huff officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley, Mo.
