CAIRO, Ill. -- Leslie G. "Les" Williams, 55, of Cairo died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born April 22, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of Lynum and Betty Meadows Williams.
Williams lived in Illinois more than 29 years, and was employed by Little Egypt Housing Development. He was a member of 19th Street First Baptist Church.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Constance; four sons, Dedrick, Eric, Leslie and Bernard Williams, all of Cairo; four daughters, Malika Williams of Memphis, Tenn., Veronica Irish of Kankakee, Ill., Ashia and Akeli Forbes of Joliet, Ill.; his parents of Cincinnati; a sister, Cheryl Norris of Cincinnati; four stepchildren, Irish Chatman of Memphis, Terry Smith of Fort Sill, Okla., Donald Allen of Cairo, Doug Woodring of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.
Friends may call Saturday at 19th Street Baptist Church after noon.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Darryl Cox and Tyrone Coleman officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Mound City, Ill.
Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
