CAIRO, Ill. -- Funeral Mass for Leslie E. Webster will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds.

Webster, 81, of Cairo died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 10, 1916, at Cairo, son of Theodore and Jennie Hodges Webster.

He worked as a lab technician for Burkhart Foam Co. in Cairo before retiring. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and served as chief usher there for many years. He also was a member of the Cairo Knights of Columbus Council 1027. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, and a son.

Survivors include three daughters, Leslie Webster and Karen Johnston, both of Cairo; and Emily Helman of Villa Ridge; a son, Patrick O. Webster of Cairo; six grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

There is no visitation.

Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
