PERRYVILLE -- Leroy Edward Welty, 76, of Perryville died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Perry County, son of Lawrence E. and Bernetta Smith Welty. He and Ruby Ann Weibrecht were married May 13, 1942, at Perryville.
Welty had been an installer with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers, and the VFW in Ste. Genevieve.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dale, Merlin and Michael Welty of Perryville; two daughters, Sharon Boland of Perryville, Bonnie Heberlie of Crystal City; two sisters, Mildred Harper of Sikeston, Viola Sebastian of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today, and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time. The parish wake will be at 6 tonight, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday.
Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
