PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Leroy G. Welker, 83, of Perryville passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Independence Care Center.

He was born April 2, 1937, in Perryville to Linus T. and Anna C. Buchheit Welker. He was married to Helen M. Cook for 57 years. They were married July 27, 1963.

Leroy was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1263 and Holy Name Society. He was an interior assembly leadman at Saberliner Corp. and retired after 42 years, former manager of Young and Sons Funeral Home minor league baseball team and American Legion Booster. Leroy loved family gatherings and going to his grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include sons, David (Denise) Welker of Festus, Missouri, and Keith (Tammy) Welker of Perryville; brothers, Edward (Margie) Welker of Biehle, Missouri, Cletus (Erline) Welker of Perryville and Leonard (Jane) Welker of Perryville; sister, Rebecca "Becky" (Cletus) Schnurbusch of Perryville; grandchildren, Claire Welker, Holly Welker and Ethan Welker; stepgrandchildren Jonny, Jacob and Janey Klassen; and great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Paul Welker and Robert Welker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer officiating.

Entombment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery Mary Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Perryville.

Memorial contributions may be given to Crown Hospice, 407 W. St. Joseph St., Perryville, MO, 63775 or the Seminary Picnic Fund.

Ford and Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
