SIKESTON, Mo. -- Leonard Keith Skelton of Sikeston passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, after an extended illness. Keith was born Feb. 25, 1963, to the late Jack and Loretta Welch Skelton in Sikeston. He was a 1981 graduate of Sikeston High School. He worked at Alan Wire in Sikeston for 10 years before going to work for the U.S. Postal Service. After retiring from the USPS in 2018, he spent his time tinkering with his Ford Mustangs and spoiling his cats...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Leonard Keith Skelton of Sikeston passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, after an extended illness.

Keith was born Feb. 25, 1963, to the late Jack and Loretta Welch Skelton in Sikeston.

He was a 1981 graduate of Sikeston High School. He worked at Alan Wire in Sikeston for 10 years before going to work for the U.S. Postal Service. After retiring from the USPS in 2018, he spent his time tinkering with his Ford Mustangs and spoiling his cats.

Keith is survived by a daughter, Kasey (Tom) Skelton-Eiceman of St. Louis; a brother, Jeff (Kathy) Skelton of Sikeston; a brother-in-law, Jeff Placek, also of Sikeston; and three nieces, Halie and Hanna Placek and Elizabeth Phelps.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathy Skelton and Karyn Placek; and a nephew, Tray Phelps.

Visitation and funeral service were held Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Officiating was the Rev. Chad Bles. Cremation followed.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
