BERNIE -- Leonard Reed, 66, of Bessemer City, N.C., and formerly of the Powe area near Bernie died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at the Gaston Memorial Hospital at Gastonia, N.C.
He was born June 21, 1933, at Powe, the son of Andrew and Edna Davis Reed. He and Virginia Lee Eubanks were married Jan. 20, 1950, at Piggott, Ark.
He was a building contractor and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald Reed, Keith Reed and Timothy Reed, all of Bessemer City; five daughters, Connie Braunscheidel of Kissimmee, Fla., Shirley Mehaffie of Dayton, Ohio, Maxine Crawford of Gastonia, Karen Reed and Elizabeth Reed, both of Bessemer City; his father of Dexter; a brother, Dawsey Reed of Doniphan; two sisters, Donna Eubanks and Kay Warlick, both of Dexter; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home at Bernie.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Bernie Cemetery.
