A private grave-side service for Leonard O. Griffin was held Saturday at Shiloh Cemetery near Payson, Ill.

Griffin, 70, of 3019 Aspen, died June 18, 1992, at his home.

He was born June 12, 1922, at Payson, the son of Willard E. and Ferne Finchum Griffin.

He was a retired schoolteacher, having taught 38 years in Michigan. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1984.

Griffin was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville and Wayne State University in Michigan. He was a musician and had worked as an archaeologist with a special interest in Indian artifacts.

Survivors are a son, Patrick M. Griffin, Pickney, Mich., and a cousin, Donald Schaffer, Payson.

The body was cremated in Cape Girardeau.
