Leonard Ernest Martin Heise, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of Wilson and Hilda M. Grebing Heise. He and Bettie Dee Seabaugh were married July 1, 1950.

Leonard was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. He worked at Cape Toyota as a mechanic, retiring in 1991.

Leonard was baptized at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He was confirmed and was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Leonard was especially fond of his beloved dog, Shorty.

Loving survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bettie Dee Heise of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Patricia Biri of Jackson; a son, Tom (LaWanna) Heise of Shawneetown; four grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Gilbert, Tressa (Brad) Bauman, Erin (Scott) Crader and Rick (Christina) Biri; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilson "Butch" Heise Jr. of Whitewater; and two sisters, Dorothy Seabaugh and Betty Sims, both of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Merril Heise; and a great-grandson, Ethan Bauman.

Memorial visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
