CHARLESTON -- Leonard Daniel Ballinger Sr., 83, of Charleston died Friday, Feb. 18, 1994, in the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, of an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 22, 1909 at Anniston, son of Lloyd and Amelia Patterson Ballinger.
He was a retired funeral director with the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel and later with the Shelby Funeral Home in Charleston, until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Christian Church in Charleston.
On July 2, 1932, he married Maegerie Baker, who survives of Charleston.
Also surviving are one son, Leonard Daniel Ballinger Jr. of Arnold; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Three sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with Brother J.L. Laughlin, pastor of the First Christian Church of Charleston, officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery near Charleston.
