ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Leona L. Schuessler, 94, of Altenburg died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Waverly, Iowa, daughter of Martin and Lydia Theiss Holschen. She and Floyd F. Schuessler were married Aug. 12, 1945. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1993...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Leona L. Schuessler, 94, of Altenburg died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Waverly, Iowa, daughter of Martin and Lydia Theiss Holschen. She and Floyd F. Schuessler were married Aug. 12, 1945. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1993.

Schuessler was a former bank teller. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg and Golden Age Club.

Survivors include a son, Dennis W. (Kathy) Schuessler of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Holly and Todd Schuessler; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Sophia Barber.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 8 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Steven Dressler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg or the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
