Leona Grebing

Leona M. Grebing, 96, of Jackson passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 26, 1908, in Shawneetown, daughter of Henry and Alvenia Kayser Wilkens. She and Richard Grebing were married Aug. 26, 1928, in Shawneetown. He passed away March 20, 1985.

Leona was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown. She and her husband farmed near Frohna, at which time she was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

In 1987 she moved to Jackson and transferred her church membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She also was a member of Altenburg Senior Citizens.

Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Hilda Grebing of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Ruben Reisenbichler of Bend, Ore.; a brother, Elmer Wilkens of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Reginald and Kim Reisenbichler, Michael, Stuart and Sandra Grebing; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Scott and Sarah Reisenbichler.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and two infant sisters.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
