Leona Egson, 67, 1105 Linden, died Thurday, July 30, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Grenada, Miss., daughter of John Henry and Hazel King. She married Sam Egson in 1942 at Sikeston. Egson had been a cook and supervisor at University Hall at Southeast Missouri State University, and a cook at Southern Cafe. Leona Egson, 67, 1105 Linden, died Thurday, July 30, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Grenada, Miss., daughter of John Henry and Hazel King. She married Sam Egson in 1942 at Sikeston.

Egson had been a cook and supervisor at University Hall at Southeast Missouri State University, and a cook at Southern Cafe. She was a member of New Life Fellowship.

Survivors include two sons, Sam Jr. and Tommy Egson of Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Bertha Smith, Ethel, Rosetta, Martha, Leona II and Trisie Egson, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, John King Jr. of Sikeston; three sisters, Elnora King, Hazel Pondexter, of Oklahoma, Mary King of Indio, Calif.; 35 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Shermella Egson will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
