Leona Helen Anderton, 90, of Jackson died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born June 28, 1914, in Kansas City, Mo., daughter of George Thomas and Annie Eliza Rice Hughes. She and James Henry Anderton were married Sept. 28, 1930, in Courtney, Mo. He died in 1990.
Anderton worked at Lake City Arsenal near Buckner, Mo., and was a nurse aide and school bus driver in Riceville, Iowa. She lived in Levasy, Mo., where she was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ and was a 4-H leader.
She moved to Cape Girardeau in June 1996, and attended West Side Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Jim Anderton of Maquoketa, Iowa; two daughters, Helen Tilley of Cape Girardeau, Carol Heman of Buckner; two sisters, Ethel Casper of Independence, Mo., Nora Grimm of Lake Ozark, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Ebenezer Church in Levasy from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Stephen Redman officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
