CHAFFEE -- Leon "Raney" W. Miller Sr., 73, of Chaffee, died Thursday Aug. 26, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1926 to Sereno William and Catherine Halter Miller. He was married to Margaret Ludwig April 23, 1949.
He served in the United States Army and fought in central Europe during World War II. He was a conductor for the Frisco Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad in Chaffee. Miller also was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3127, the St. Ambrose Men's Club, the Chaffee American Legion Post 389 and the United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Leon "Buddy" W. Miller Jr; four daughters, Jane Paul, of Springfield, Mary Dimeling of Spokane, Wash., Eva Keagle of Harker Heights, Texas and Sue Ann Kern of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif; two brothers, Arthur Miller, of Bloomfield and James Miller of La Grange, Ill; one sister Betty Enderle of Kelso and nine grandchildren.
There will be a visitation at 4 p.m. Friday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. The burial will follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
