Leon Gibbar, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 13, 1943, in Commerce, Missouri to James Lemie Gibbar and Gertrude McLain.
He and Judith Ann Gibbar were married Oct. 8, 1982, in Cape Girardeau.
He received a degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
Leon was a teacher in several different schools in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include a sister, Dolores Gibbar of Cape Girardeau; brother, Kenny Gibbar of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lemie Gibbar; mother, Gertrude McLain; wife, Judith Ann Gibbar; nine brothers; and three sisters.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Catholic Social Ministries Food Pantry.
