ORAN -- Leon M. Diebold, 80, of Oran, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 18, 1918, in Oran, son of Charles George and Louise Felter Diebold. He and Anna M. Schlosser were married April 15, 1944.
Diebold served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had worked as a shipping clerk and truck driver for Oran International Hat factory, retiring in 1969.
He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran and the St. Joseph Sodality.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Ridings of Jackson and Mary Ellen Carr of Sikeston; three sisters, Helen Reischman of Oran, Marcella Tresler of Chester, Ill., and Frances Heisserer of Scott City; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
Visitation will be at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 3 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be said at 7.
Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Lewis Hejna officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
