WARE, Ill. -- Leon Burchyett, 87, of Ware died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 1996, at the City Care Center in Anna, Ill.
He was born Jan. 14, 1909, at McClure, Ill., to William and Flora Verble Burchyett. He and Ida Johnson were married Dec. 5, 1936. She died May 24, 1985.
Burchyett was employed as a custodian for the Shawnee Elementary School until his retirement. He also worked at the National Ware Alfalfa Mills in McClure. He also was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Wolf Lake.
Survivors are a son, Lynn Burchyett of Jonesboro, Ill.; a daughter, Jeanette Knight of Brandon, S.D.; two brothers, William Callie Burchyett of Sturtevant, Wis., and Lester Burchyett of Murray, Ky.; four sisters, Liza Vancille of Burlington, Wis., Mary Warnakee of Gale, Ill., Gladys Schilsting of Cape Girardeau and Hazel Gearing of McClure; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, a son and a grandson.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Joyce will officiate, with burial in Lindsey Cemetery.
