BERTRAND -- Leon Bass, 56, of Bertrand, died Saturday, May 4, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Fayette, Ala., son of William D. and Ethel Nevelle Bass. He and the former Darlene Smith were married May 30, 1982.
Bass had been employed 20 years at Steward Steel in Sikeston.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Bass of Bridgeview, Ill., Gary Bass of Rockford, Ill.; five stepsons, Ronnie and Scotty Brawner of East Prairie, Richard Brawner of Arizona, Ricky Brawner of Whitmore, Mich., Marvin Brawner of Matthews; six brothers, Preston, Bill, Joe and Jimmy Bass of Chicago, Jesse Bass of Oaklawn, Ill., Bobby Bass of Bridgeview; three sisters, Edril Stricklang of Orland Park, Ill., Lucille Davidson of Chicago Ridge, Ill., Brenda Perry of Bridgeview; 13 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Bass.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Rev. Terry Ray will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
