CANALOU -- Leola M. Lumsden, 86, of Canalou died Friday, June 6, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Nov. 8, 1910, in Commerce to Charles and Aletha Haney Spalding. On Feb. 12, 1933, she married Nelson Lumsden in Anniston. He survives.
She was a graduate of Matthews High School and a member of the First Christian Church in Matthews, where she was a member of the Women's Christian Fellowship. She had served on the New Madrid County Extension Council and was active in the Canalou Community Club for more than 55 years. She became a 4-H Club leader in 1946 and was a Grey Lady for more than 25 years at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Ann Blevins of Dexter; a sister, Maggie Spradling of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Larry Long and Ed Pangburn officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
