She was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Perry County, Missouri, daughter of Louis and Theresa (Unterreiner) Leible. She and Ernest M. "Ernie" Funke were married July 31, 1948. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2000...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Leola M. Funke, 91, of Longtown, Missouri, died April 25, 2015, at Holiday Residential Care in Perryville.

She was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Perry County, Missouri, daughter of Louis and Theresa (Unterreiner) Leible. She and Ernest M. "Ernie" Funke were married July 31, 1948. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2000.

Leola had been a lifelong resident of Longtown. She was also a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, Missouri. She had worked at J.C. Penney warehouse in St. Louis and later worked at and retired from Prince Gardener. Survivors include one daughter, Jane Funke of Imperial, Missouri; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve (Pattie) Funke of Leslie, Missouri; one sister, Flora (Christ) Berkbuegler of Perryville; two grandchildren, Shannon and Kalen (Tanya) Funke; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Charlee Rose and Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. At 2 p.m., funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, with the Rev. Jim French officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Longtown.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Crown Hospice of Cape Girardeau or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek.

Young and Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Perryville provided the arrangements.
