Leola Marie Eakins, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born April 9, 1916, at Burfordville, daughter of John Thomas and Sara Jane Eddleman Winkler. She and Cletus Eakins were married March 15, 1936, in Murphysboro, Ill. He died Jan. 12, 1999.
Eakins was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She grew up near Crump, lived in Perryville, Mo., and moved to Cape Girardeau in 1936. She and her husband started Eakins Cabinets in 1943, which is currently operated by their son, Wayne Eakins.
Survivors include her son of Jackson; a brother, William Winkler of Perryville; two sisters, Lenetta Oster of Perryville, Ila Niswonger of Jackson; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Marlyn "Bud" Schott officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
