SIKESTON -- Leo McCormick Sr., 65, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1991, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.

He was born March 6, 1926, at Vanduser, son of William Edward and Bertha Mae Jones McCormick. He married Doris Hopper Oct. 4, 1974.

McCormick had worked in the maintenance department at Scott County Central High School seven years. He was a member of Morley VFW, and Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 at Sikeston.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and received the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Leo McCormick Jr., Barney and David Ervin of Sikeston, Henry "Hank" McCormick of Russellville, Ark.; five daughters, Patsy Jones and Rhonda Hardin of Sikeston, Brenda McCormick of the home, Carolyn Threadgill of Noonan, Ga., Sondra Ervin of East Prairie; a brother, Jim Cantrell of Sikeston; two sisters, Pearl Summerville of Cahokia, Ill., Geneva Burgess of Sikeston; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Billie Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military rites by the U.S. Army unit at Ft. Leonard Wood.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
