Leo Edward Boren, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at his home.
He was born April 13, 1924, in Cape Girardeau to Herbert and Emma Petzoldt Boren. He and Virginia Kain were married Dec. 31, 1948. She preceded him in death June 21, 2010.
Leo served in the U.S. Navy.
He loved to hunt and fish. He especially loved trout fishing at Montauk State Park. He played baseball in the Navy and the minor leagues and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the men's club.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Boren of Cape Girardeau; son, Doug (Cathy) Boren of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Lyris Boren of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Bryan (Chanel) Boren, Lance (Katie) Boren, Tori Boren and Daniel (Jennifer) Boren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Lee Boren; sisters, Dorothy Williams and Sophie Boren; and brothers, Roland and Ervin Boren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Please practice social distancing and extend condolences through non-physical contact.
Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
