TAMMS, Ill. -- Leo Beasley, 86, of Tamms died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at home.
He was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Ohio County, Ky., to Thomas and Elizabeth Burden Beasley. He and Shirley Denton were married May 29, 1976.
Beasley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thebes, Ill. He was a retired farmer.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carolyn (John) Butcher, Tonya (Robin) Reid and Kelly Beasley, all of Tamms; a sister, Joyce Bradshaw of Anna, Ill.; two brothers, Willard Beasley of Cobden, Ill., and Leslie Beasley of Tamms; two grandchildren, Michele Russell and Lindsey Reid; a great-granddaughter, Kala Sims; a great-grandson, Randol Sims; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Archie and Raymond Beasley; and five sisters, Mervel Beasley, Della Rossi, Gracie Beasley and two infant sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Lindsey Cemetery, with military honors by the Illinois Army National Guard Honors Detail and area veterans.
