MARION, Ill. — Lenora Badgley Dobbs, 83, of Jackson, formerly of Marion and Grand Chain, Illinois, departed this life at 12:15 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, surrounded by her children, to be reunited with her husband in the loving arms of Jesus.
Lenora was born July 30, 1939, in Cave in Rock, Illinois, and raised by the late Homer and Lela Walter Badgley of Grand Chain. She grew up on the family farm, raising horses and "just being a country girl" as she would often say. She married Charles Richard "Dick" Dobbs of Grand Chain, who was her high school sweetheart, after 10 years of courtship, Sept. 18, 1965. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 2008.
She was employed by Main Brothers of Karnak, Illinois, until moving to Marion. Her love of animals led her to the opening of Lenora's Pampered Pets, where she groomed and boarded small animals for many years.
After retiring, she and Charlie went on many adventures and travels, often spending hours with their children and grandchildren. Lenora cared for her husband until his passing. She then moved to Jackson to be near family. Her greatest joy came from caring for others.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Tracy Len and Dr. Brian Gualano of Asheville, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Chuck" and Lori Dobbs of Jackson; grandchildren, Chandler (Hannah Hendrix), Braeden and Parker Dobbs of Jackson; Ethan, Elliot and Isabella Gualano of Asheville; great-grandson, Maven Dobbs of Jackson; brother, Donald (Mary Ann) Badgley of Steeleville, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Barbara (the late James) Cripps of Ferges, Illinois, and Patricia (the late Bennie) Dobbs of Lansing, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Ronald "Butch" (Donna) Dobbs of Marion and Gary (Cindy) Dobbs of Valparaiso, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Grand Chain Masonic Cemetery.
