MARBLE HILL -- Lendwood Garland, 68, of Marble Hill, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 8, 1925, at Hurricane, son of James and Myrtle Cook Garland. He and Lucille James were married Aug. 11, 1943.
Garland retired from Missouri State Highway Department. He was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church, and lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Garland of Marble Hill, Franklin Garland of Sedgewickville; four daughters, Grace Cook and Virginia Bielik of Millersville, Carolyn Buckner and Katherine Cook of Marble Hill; a brother, Junior Garland of Marble Hill; three sisters, Gearldine Cook, Dorothy Cook nd Melba Cook, all of Marble Hill; 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Liley Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. The Revs. Jimmie Fulbright and Jesse Long will officiate, with burial in Pulliam Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by Marble Hill VFW Post 5900.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
