Schaefer, 78, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born May 28, 1920, in Fredericktown, son of Herman and Pauline Faulkner Schaefer. He and Jessie L. Rodgers were married Aug. 17, 1945.

Schaefer retired from Duro Chrome in St. Louis. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Winfred Schaefer of Fredericktown; and a sister, Edna Thurmond of California.
