TAMMS, Ill. -- Lena Greenley, 94, of Tamms passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 1, 1920, to Charles and Gracie Williamson Cox. She married Howard Wallace in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1962. She later married James B. Greenley in 1963.
Lena was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church and AFSME. She was a waitress and cook in area restaurants, was a school cook, and was a seamstress at M. Snower. She then worked 20 years at Anna State Hospital, retiring in 1993.
She enjoyed and very much loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, James; a daughter, Effie (Bill) Harrell of Villa Ridge, Illinois; three grandchildren, Kim (Ray) Adams-Kang, Amy Harrell and Greg Bennett; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Rachel Kang and Maddison Jo Bennett; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Clifford Bennett; a grandson, Howard Henry Bennett; two sisters, Goldie Wilson and Opal Martin; and two brothers, Huey and Otis Charles Cox.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bill Fox and Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Dongola, Illinois.
