Lena E. Colyer-Hill, 81, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of McClure, Ill., died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Fountainbleau Lodge.
She was born March 27, 1926, at McClure, daughter of John and Lena Mainer Colyer. She and Everd R. Hill were married Aug. 11, 1942, by the Rev. C.E. Barringer in Cape Girardeau. Everd preceded her in death April 26, 1989.
Lena and Everd lived in McClure and later moved to Kirkwood, Mo. She was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star No. 358 in Kirkwood. Lena moved to Cape Girardeau in 1998, where she lived until her death.
Survivors include her daughter; Glenda J. (Bob) Sheffer of Olmsted, Ill.; two sisters, Reva "Toots" Kaufman of Pekin, Ill., and Joann Colyer-Toler of Cape Girardeau; three granddaughters, Angela Sheffer (Craig) Mitchell of Cape Girardeau, Susan Sheffer (Eric) Graham of DuQuoin, Ill., and Melissa Sheffer (Todd) Barnes of Ballwin, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Megan and Blake Mitchell of Cape Girardeau, Nolan, Jordan, Brandon and Denton Graham of DuQuoin, Ill.; brother-in-law, Lowell Hale of Pekin, Ill.; and two sisters-in-law, Elsa Colyer of Spanaway, Wash., Shirley Colyer of Thebes, Ill. She was a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Colyer-Hill was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lindell D. "Bub" Hill; two brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, with the Revs. Doyle W. Randol and Richard Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Lindsey Cemetery Fund.
