Roy Leonard “Len” Whitener was born Feb. 12, 1942, at St. Louis, the son of Roy and Thelma (Harris) Whitener. He passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 74 years.
Len married Aleda Jane Tinnin in January 1981, and she survives. He also is survived by daughters Gina (Scott) Hobeck, Maggie (Eddie) Wood, Becky (Todd) Gross and Nicky (Jeff) Wendel; stepchildren Joe Bounds, Tina Miller and Mary Jo Sheldon; a brother, Larry (Jolly Ann) Whitener; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Len was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Campbell; sister-in-law, Beverly Finch; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nora Tinnin and Clarence Tinnin; and granddaughters, Brandy Hobeck and Natalie Wood.
Len enjoyed bowling and hunting and was a “World of Outlaws” fan.
Funeral service was Monday afternoon at Follis & Sons Funeral Chapel in Fredericktown, Missouri, with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating. Interment was at Snowdenville Cemetery.
