ZACHARY, La. -- Lela McCoy, 75, formerly of the Sikeston area, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000 at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary.
She was born March 14, 1925, daughter of Alvin and Katherine Hacker Gasser. She and Archie Vexter McCoy were married Sept. 12, 1942, in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include four sons, Rodney McCoy of Pocahontas, Ark., Steve McCoy of Ochlocknee, Ga., Timothy McCoy of Pelham, Ga., and Kenneth McCoy of Caruthersville; five daughters, Maxine Fowler and Penny Etue of Zachary, Kay Hanks of Sikeston, Teresa Foster of Cairo, Ga., and Bernice Baysinger of Bernie; a brother, Gilbert Gasser of Oakland, Calif., 33 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Clardy officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
