MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Lee Nanney, 90, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Eldercare of Marble Hill.
He was born June 12, 1919, in Scopus, Mo., son of William Asa and Alice Jane Nations Nanney. He and Elsie May Joiner were united in marriage in 1946. She died in 1979.
Mr. Nanney worked for several sawmills as a timber worker. He was of the Baptist belief.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a special friend, Ellen Mayfield; five sons, J.C. Nanney of Glenallen, Mo., Don and Danny Nanney of Marble Hill, Jeff and Greg Mayfield of Jackson; four daughters, Iris Harding of Florida, Nadine Wells and Carla LaFaire of Marble Hill, Karen Wachter of Bloomfield, Mo.; three brothers, Alfred and Bobby Nanney of Marble Hill, Cecil Nanney of Advance; four sisters, Stella Carmen of Manchester, Mo., Nancy Dockins and Thelma Nanney of Marble Hill, Louise Smith of Imperial, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jeff and two infants; an infant daughter; five brothers, Melvin, Lester, Vester, John and an infant; two sisters, Ethel Shriner and Velma Cook.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Crader Cemetery near Marble Hill with full military honors provided by Missouri Military Honors Team and VFW Post 5900.
