TAMMS, Ill. -- Funeral service for Lee Burkepile of Tamms will be held at 2 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. The Rev. Billy Don Heady will officiate, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to service time.

Burkepile, 85, died Wednesday, July 2, 1997, at his home.

He was born Sept. 12, 1911, in Cherokee, Okla., son of Harry and Kitty Kirby Burkepile. He and Pat Carter were married Nov. 15, 1987.

Burkepile retired as a security officer with Colorado Highway Department.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Burkepile of Arkansas; two stepdaughters, Donna Bigham of Olive Branch, Stacy Carter of Wisconsin; two stepsons, Timmy Slapinski of Cairo, Bobby Johnson of Olive Branch; and four stepgrandchildren.
