Lee Benson
Laura Lee Benson, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born April 16, 1923, in Carlisle County, Ky., daughter of Orion Lindell and Laura Isabelle Moreland Brock. She and Max Dean Barks were married March 25, 1941, in Missouri. He died Nov. 4, 1975. She later married Eugene Benson in April 1979 in Indiana. He also preceded her in death.
Benson moved to Cape Girardeau after her marriage to Mr. Barks. She and her family owned and operated the Right Way Cafe. She moved away for a period of time and returned about 10 years ago. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Barks of Slidell, La., Terry Barks of Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Lee Jenkins of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Annie "Ann" Owen of Scott City, Estella "Stella" Green of Jackson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
