Lawrence Glenn Whelan, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1951, in Red Bud, Illinois, to Lawrence John and Betty Lee Haney Whelan.
He served in the Navy.
Lawrence worked at Lenco in Jackson. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
He attended Cape County Cowboy Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Gammon and Leslie Jo Whelan, both of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Brenda (Paul) Lufcy of Cape Girardeau.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Brad Gammon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis.
