GARLAND, Texas — Lawrence Fleming Swan of Garland went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at the age of 69 years. GARLAND, Texas — Lawrence Fleming Swan of Garland went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at the age of 69 years.

He was born April 4, 1954, to Marguerite Mitchell Swan and Raymond "Sully" Wilson.

Lawrence graduated from Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University before joining the military, where he served honorably. After his military service, he returned to Cape Girardeau and began working at and retired from Wetterau Foods Inc. (SuperValu).

In 2001, Lawrence relocated to Garland. He worked and retired from Fluor Daniels and lived in Garland until the time of his passing. Lawrence was a member and faithful deacon of Potter's House Church of Dallas.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Deronda "Ronnie" Swan; children, Faith Richards, Barrett Swan, Trenton Moore, Travon Moore and Sulayman Moore; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred Swan, Helen Baker, Patricia Dixon, Stevie Swan, Charles Swan, Margaret Bird, Althora Swan, Richard Wilson, Mary Joanne Wilson and Connie Wilson; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Irvin Swan; brother, David Wayne Swan; grandson; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Lighthouse United, 710 Southern Expressway in Cape Girardeau, and a celebration of life service will follow at noon. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
