LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Lawrence H. Stoverink, 84, of Leopold died Wednesday Nov. 16, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 2, 1921, at Leopold, son of Anthony J. and Rose Vandoren Stoverink. He and Magdalen Hinkebein were married May 4, 1946, at Leopold.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a farmer. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and a third degree member of the St. Isidore Council 5898 of the Knights of Columbus at Leopold.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Eugene Stoverink, Tony Stoverink and Edgar Stoverink, all of Leopold, Steve Stoverink of Malden, Mo., Alan Stoverink and Terry Stoverink, both of Marble Hill, Mo.; five daughters, Geraldine Bohnsack of Whitewater, Kathy Chapman of Thornton, Colo., Dorothy VanGennip of Marble Hill., Susie Lukefahr of Leopold, Patsy Birk of Gordonville; two sisters, Beatrice Landewee and Celestine Eeftink, both of Leopold; 30 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. The Rev. Bill Huggins will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
