LAWRENCE STEVENS

KELSO -- Lawrence "Sonny" Stevens. 62, of Kelso died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Allenville, the son of Clarence and Ruby Welker Stevens. On Sept. 11, 1965, he married Judith Ressel in Kelso. She survives.

He worked for 20 years as a lining cutter for Florsheim Shoes until his retirement in 1996. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Gary "Chris" Stevens of Kelso; and three daughters, Sandy, Sherry and Cindy Stevens, all of Kelso. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City from 5 to 7 p.m. today. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, with the Rev. Pat Wissman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
