LAWRENCE MORGAN JR.

CAIRO, Ill. -- Funeral Mass for Lawrence E. "Beans" Morgan Jr. of Cairo will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Prass will officiate, with burial in U.S. National Cemetery in Mound City.

There is no visitation.

Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.

Morgan, 79, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Cairo, son of Lawrence and Rushie Burton Morgan.

Morgan had been a warehouse manager and collector for First National Bank. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Elks Lodge 651 and Kiwanis Club in Cairo. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel; a son, Larry Morgan of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Eugene Morgan of Ada, Okla., Jewell Sams of Paducah, Ky.; a sister, Dorothy Estes of Paducah; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
