Lawrence J. McLain, 94, of 2560 Meadow Lane, died Saturday, May 15, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born July 11, 1898, at Oriole, Mo., son of Jefferson D. and Minnie Shaner McLain.
He was married to Pearl Noland, Oct. 20, 1921, at Oriole, Mo. She died Sept. 13, 1992.
McLain was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Air Corps.
He was a member of Centenary Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
McLain was the owner and operator of grocery stores in St. Louis and Oriole, Mo. He was also a member of Excelsior Lodge 441, AF & AM in Jackson since 1920, and American Legion Post 158 in Jackson for more than 50 years.
Survivors include a daughter, LaFern Stiver of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel with the Rev. Neal Stein officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
