MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Lawrence George Eeftink, 96, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 27, 1921, in Drum, Missouri, son of John Henry and Barbara Rose Horrell Eeftink. He and Celestine Marie Stoverink were married Sept. 13, 1947, at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, Missouri, and she passed away June 19, 2006...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Lawrence George Eeftink, 96, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 27, 1921, in Drum, Missouri, son of John Henry and Barbara Rose Horrell Eeftink. He and Celestine Marie Stoverink were married Sept. 13, 1947, at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, Missouri, and she passed away June 19, 2006.

Lawrence was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church at Glennon, Missouri, and was a third-degree knight with Knights of Columbus Council 5898. He was also a member of Disabled Veterans Chapter 16 in Cape Girardeau.

He served his country proudly in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his sons, Richard (Geralyn) Eeftink and Leon (Edith) Eeftink, both of Leopold, and Gerald (Brenda) Eeftink of Jackson; three daughters, Anita (Theodore) Vandeven of Puxico, Missouri, and Mary (Ambrose) Jansen and Edna (Steven) Seiler, both of Leopold; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Paul and Elmer Eeftink; and sister, Gertrude Beel.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Parish prayers will be followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Glennon, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
