COBDEN, Ill. --Lawrence Cerny, 87, of Cobden died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
He was born June 12, 1918, in Cobden, son of John M. and Elizabeth Bigler Cerny.
Cerny was a farmer and a member and past trustee of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Cobden American Legion Post 259.
Survivors include two brothers, Norbert and Richard Cerny, both of Cobden, and two sisters, Dorothy Zinn of Breese, Ill., and Catherine Gibbs of Cobden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hugh Cerny.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden. Rosary services will be held at 8 p.m.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden with Father Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Cobden with full military honors by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 2455 of Anna.
