LaWanda Druscilla Bartels, 84, a resident of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Cape Girardeau to the late Luther and Edna Mae (Tucker) Allen. LaWanda Druscilla Bartels, 84, a resident of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Cape Girardeau to the late Luther and Edna Mae (Tucker) Allen.

LaWanda enjoyed cooking, needlework, gardening, being outdoors and when she was younger, she loved to fish.

She is survived by a son, Ronnie Dale Peters and wife Betty Hunter of St. Louis; two brothers, Earl Allen of Cape Girardeau and Jerry Allen of California; sister, Eunice Allen of Cape Girardeau and one granddaughter.

LaWanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Joe Bartels; son, Randy Wayne Peters; one granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery.
