BATES CITY, Mo. -- LaVerne Lucille Lloyd, 79, of Bates City passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
LaVerne was born Dec. 19, 1941, in Cape Girardeau to Edgar and Frieda Borgfield Winkler.
She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church of Oak Grove, Missouri, and was involved also in Lutheran Women Missionary League and several altar guilds.
LaVerne and Jeffrey cared for several foster children through the years. She was a proud secretary at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. LaVerne always put family before herself. She loved animals and flowers. She was generous and had a strong faith and prayer life. LaVerne was beloved by everyone.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, the Rev. Jeffrey Lloyd of the home; daughters, Cindy (Roger) Cary of Deepwater, Missouri, and Kris (Randy) Reifel of Bates City; foster son, Mark (Teresa) Ackerman of Appleton City, Missouri; brother, Elmer (Bud) Winkler of Illinois; grandchildren, Christy (Trevor) Bracher, Kayla (Felix) Reifel, Alexis (Dayton) Reifel and Kylie Ackerman; great-grandchild, Olivia Bracher; several nieces and nephews and family and friends in all the churches that Jeffrey and LaVerne served.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Lorenz in 1970; her parents; and sisters, Dorothy Peetz and Virginia Ulrich.
Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
