THEBES, Ill. -- LaVerne Hill, 83, of Thebes died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 11, 1929, in Gale, Ill., to Elmer and Mildred Prewitt Snell. She and Earl Hill were married Dec. 13, 1946, in Corning, Ark. He preceded her in death July 12, 2010.
LaVerne worked 30 years with Avon. She attended Church of God in Gale. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a beloved aunt and devoted grandmother.
Survivors include a son, Gary Hill Sr. (Ann) of Thebes; a daughter, Donna Hughes (Willis) of Grand Tower, Ill.; a brother, Dale Snell of Yuma, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Dawn Glidewell and Shannon Hughes of Grand Tower, Christina Hill of Memphis, Tenn., Gary Hill Jr. and Chad Hill of Cape Girardeau; six great-grandchildren, Landon Hill and Noah Hill of Cape Girardeau, Tyler Glidewell and Haegan Hughes of Grand Tower, Julia Kaufman and Justin Kaufman of Villa Ridge, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
