LaVerne M. Dean, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 15, 1926, in St. Louis to Herbert and Elise Bauer Torbitzky. In 1945, she and Otis M. Dean Jr. were united in marriage. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1991.
LaVerne enjoyed gardening and tinkering in her yard, and she loved her pets.
She is survived by her son, Don (Carol) Dean of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Lillian (Stephen) Hoell of Columbia, Missouri; a grandson, David (Amanda) Dean of Hampton, Virginia; and three great grandchildren, Grayson Hoell and Ethan and Owen Dean.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service for LaVerne M. Dean will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karen Dumey officiating. Graveside and committal services will be at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau and will be accepted at the funeral home.
